Disability options available for amputees

As a recent post on this blog discussed, many if not most New Jersey residents who have lost a limb because of an illness or injury will still have to go through the process of establishing by medical documentation that they have a qualifying "disability" under the regulations set out by the Social Security Administration.

Moreover, even if they do qualify under an exception to the Administration's rules about documenting an illness or injury, amputees in New Jersey who need disability benefits may still wind up dealing with a denied claim on account having too much income, not enough work history or otherwise just not meeting the Administration's disability criteria.

Particularly for those who faced a sudden amputation because of an injury, but really for anyone who has lost a limb recently, the thought of having to go through a bunch of administrative hoops in order to get the disability benefits they need may simply be too much to handle in the midst of all of the other physical and emotional challenges at hand. In this respect, the qualified attorneys and other professionals at our law office can be of valuable assistance.

In particular, at the outset of our involvement, our team will assist our client, including a person who has lost a limb, in building up the best possible case for getting disability benefits and getting them as quickly as reasonably possible. Sometimes, this is just a matter of putting together the necessary information and doing some basic calculations. At other times, a careful and thoughtful legal strategy must be developed.

While we cannot guarantee results in any given case, we can and do employee through investigation techniques and careful preparation for each of our clients' cases.
