We can help get disability benefits for an injured or ill child

Many of the recent posts on this blog have discussed how Newark, New Jersey parents can get disability benefits for their child if their child has had the misfortune of suffering either an illness or injury.

Although children usually have not been in the work force when their disabling condition develops, they are still eligible, under the right circumstances, to receive Supplemental Security Income, a disability benefit available to those who are of limited means and who have a disabling condition.

It can still be difficult to convince the Social Security Administration or an Administrative Law Judge to award benefits to a child. Evidence that a child is not able to work in a profession is not likely to convince anyone, as most children do not work in any event, many times because they are too young to do so. A New Jersey family is left having to convince the authorities that their child's illness or injury is so serious that it affects the child's daily life.

While this can prove to be challenging, it is certainly not impossible. Our law office, for example, has successfully handled child disability cases. As with any case, we start with the essential task of gather medical and other information that proves a person has serious limitations that are not likely to get better any time soon. Of course, we tailor our approach to account for the nuances of the disability laws and regulations that apply specifically to children.

While proving that a child is disabled can be challenging, it can be done. Our law office has the legal experience and knowledge to help a family with an ill or injured child to get those benefits for which they qualify.
