Social Security Administration to offer replacement cards online

If you've been injured in Newark or are suffering from an illness that prevents you from working, you likely know how difficult it may be to leave your home to take care of your obligations. If you intend to apply for Social Security disability benefits, you need specific documents from various sources in order to file your claim. And of course, you need to be registered with the Social Security Administration, or SSA, to receive your card.

We all know the headaches involved with visiting one of the many government agencies. Whether it's in court, at the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, or your local Social Security office, the trip does not always go smoothly or quickly. And if you live in a rural area, the trip itself may be long and expensive. Thankfully, the SSA recently announced that in the near future, you may be able to receive a replacement Social Security card online, as opposed to visiting one of the offices. The program will begin in two states, and will roll out to several more states and the District of Columbia in the future.

The announcement is one of many recent announcements by the Social Security Administration in their efforts to streamline and minimize the problems and issues sometimes experienced when dealing with the agency. Last month they announced their new website, "Social Security Matters" and have recently begun taking a more proactive approach to reaching out by starting a blog and maintaining and active presence in social media like Facebook and Twitter. You can also sign up for their email list to stay informed of Social Security Administration news.

While the ability to get replacement cards online is convenient, other aspects of Social Security can be complicated and confusing. Seeking experienced legal guidance for such matters can help make the process more understandable and easy to navigate.
